Imagine if a woman politician were to announce nonchalantly that she loves men, and so what?

“Three weeks ago, DSK was in Paris to prepare his candidacy for our 2012 presidential election. He met with several journalists, notably from the daily Libération. During a lunch interview, he frankly laid out what he saw as his main problems: “Money (the French don’t like a Socialist candidate to be rich), women, and my Jewishness,” he said, adding, “Yes, I love women, so what?” ”

– The Daily Beast

———

Men like Dominique Strauss-Kahn and Silvio Berlusconi (some enterprising journalist should ask him for a quotable quote about DSK’s fate) are disgusting.

It is no coincidence that they are of the same generation and so detached from contemporary behaviour between the sexes that they are like dinosaurs. Nor is it a coincidence that one is from Italy and the other from France.

The Americans have rid the world of Osama Bin Laden, are ridding us of Gaddafi, and are about to do the same with DSK, the man who ‘loves women’ in much the same way that he might say he loves meat or whisky.

And I bet DSK can’t understand what he did wrong, or why the Americans – Puritans, not like those ever so sophisticated French – are taking it so damned seriously.

Perhaps it’s time to let the Americans take care of Berlusconi too: isn’t he due for a visit to New York or Washington any time soon?

Imagine if a woman presidential hopeful – even in France – were to go to lunch with journalists and say that men are her ‘problem’ because she ‘loves men and so what?’

She’d be slutted and whored to kingdom come, and her mental health would be called into question.

And rightly so. Ditto DSK.

Maybe the French (and the Italians) might understand at last that when a man says he loves women what he means is that he is obsessed with sex to a psychologically unbalanced degree and will try to get it where he can, even when he can’t.

And that is always going to be a problem.

Kevvy. Excellent article? A bag of right wing bullshit. Check out the ads on this site. BTW, your youtube reference has been wiped.

I take it you are a lefty? Would that be an international lefty or a national lefty? And how’s the weather there in 1960?

Repeat after me, Purdie: Left, right, left, right, left, right… keep on marching and tell me when they meet.

      • Harry Purdie says:

Neither right or left, Kevvy, just rational. Yes, the 60’s were ‘interesting times’. Free thought at university especially. No ‘conspiracies’ back then, just right or wrong.(Also enjoyed the pot)

BTW, did my time in the service, so know my left from my right.

Oh, another BTW, Kevvy. All day I thought of you. I was at the zoo.

Not that I’ve become a fan of kev’s theories, but the story does sound fishy. Are we saying that hotel staff can just walk in the IMF chief’s hotel suite?

[Daphne – Of course they can. How else do they service the room?]

After DSK’s incident at the NYC Sofitel, Berlusconi is likely to borrow Gaddafi’s tent for his trip to NY and Washington.

I still think that parading the individual before a media circus dents the presumption of innocence and erodes the right to a fair trial. Read more here if you wish: http://wp.me/p1wRjT-17

  4. When the story broke out I could not believe how a man occupying such a high position and so wealthy can stoop so low and end up forcing himself sexually on a hotel maid without her consent.

Many five stars and seven stars hotels offer sex services (even in Islamic countries where women are stoned to death for committing adultery) where standard rooms may be supplied with anything including female and males condoms. Some hotels offer their in-house (though unofficial) service while others may offer outside suppliers. Many also allow you to get your own but policies vary like for example one for each person or one for each room. You will have to end up paying extra to hotel staff when not using in-house service.

New York has one of the biggest lists of sexual services in the world, anything from full sensual massage to kidnapping, domination, interrogation, interracial, spanking and all sorts of sexual fetish fantasies imaginable.

How can a mature man like him make such a mistake I have my doubts?

Men love women as much as women love men. Men love men and women love women. I feel there is nothing wrong with statements like these.

Man also loves power and for that he goes to extremes.

  5. Mar says:

The biggest problem may be the mentality of southern European women. When around 50% of the electorate is female, I find it hard to understand how men like DSK and Berlusconi get the popular vote.

[Daphne – Malta is no different. Many Maltese women think it’s the height of sophistication to flirt and play along when men speak to them with crass sexual innuendo and vulgarity.]

  6. anthony says:

Super. So now we know that Fred the Shred also loves women.

It came out in the Lords today.

Sir Fred Goodwin was shagging a senior colleague when his RBS lost twenty five billion pounds in 2008 alone.

No wonder, because he spent most of his time obtaining a superinjunction to cover up his sleazy behaviour.

When the Queen asked her hosts at the LSE why no one had seen the financial crisis coming the answer should have been an honest “because the men in charge love women ma’am”.

  7. marlene says:

It is true that a man is innocent till proven guilty but assuming that he IS found guilty of rape then his problem is not that he “loves”women but that he hates them.

  8. yor/malta says:

  9. A Grech says:

  10. Ivan F. Attard says:

I agree with you 100%. Berlusconi and all men who act in the same way he does are truly ridiculous.

But even if DSK said that one of his weak points he loved women, (and that is definetely stupid of him to say – if he truly wanted to substitute Sarkoczy), I am starting to have my doubts on this case.

( “Fejn hemm il-flus, la tghannaq u lanqas tbus”. DSK, supposedly, took it a step further than that – but that is beside my point)

According to France24 direct , DSK was granted bail – 1 million dollar CASH. plus a 5 million dollar bond !! They said that he does not have that kind of money. – his salary is in the region of 300,000 euros per year inclusive of tax.

His wife, Anne Sinclair, is paying !

    http://www.france24.com/en/20110520-new-york-bristol-plaza-hotel-refuses-room-dominique-strauss-kahn-wife-prison#

Puzzled. Why would a wife help him out of all this?

P.S. Contrary to above article, France24 direct are NOW saying it is not one, but SIX million dollar CASH paid by the wife.

[Daphne – Why would a wife help out? Because she wants to believe it’s not true.]

Americans, Puritans? U hallina. Trump and Clinton, (just to name a few) are Puritans as well?

  12. lucy wadham says:

Am I the only one who has a problem with the TONE of this piece?

I am by no means an apologist for this man, but whatever one may feel about DSK’s behaviour he is, as Etienne Calleja points out, still sub judice.

It is precisely this kind of sanctimoniousness that has driven most of the great blunders of US foreign policy and, for that matter, the subjugation of women.
