I believe that function (automatic closing of side mirrors when you lock the car) is not automatic on Mercedes-Benz vehicles, you need to activate it through the software settings on your dashboard.

I believe it is automatic with BMWs where the key has been correctly extracted.

Newer models may have it differently.

It would appear that your ‘friend’ Kurt Farrugia is the person responsible for the first press release (warning shots one) issued after the shooting incident.

If that is the case, then the mishandling of this case is closer to Muscat than seemed before.

The bullet holes had long been staring them in the face when the press release went out. Some amateur must have been playing top cop.

  3. ciccio says:

I do not believe the story about the wing mirror.

It is as credible as those shots in the air.

      I fully concur.

Why else would Steve Morrison Smith’s vehicle have been removed so quickly and this is not taking into account that Smith himself was also removed from circulation and only released after he had tasted arrest for over 40 hours in what are referred to as ‘the dungeons’ by police inspectors.

Why hasn’t Smith released a statement? Has he been threatened into submission?

He has one advantage over the rest of us. He holds a British passport and the British High Commission will ensure his safety.

This is no Nardu Debono or some hapless immigrant from Mali.

  4. C Falzon says:

It seems there was another person in the car meaning that the mirrors would most likely not have been retracted as they do so only after removing the ignition key and in many cases only after locking the car.

The car engine was probably not even switched off, much less the key removed, so as to keep the air conditioning on and allowing the occupant to keep comfortable at our expense.

Rule no.1 with this government – question everything.

There is no way Sheehan would’ve heard his mirror being hit from inside the house.

All the eye-witness accounts start at the point of two men having an altercation.

[Daphne – Well, actually there is another eyewitness account on this website from Nicholas Cotoner Street:
    http://daphnecaruanagalizia.com/2014/11/exclusive-patrick-sheehan-was-with-his-brother-when-he-shotmanuel-mallias-young-daughter-was-with-giovanna-sheehan-in-gzira/

My theory – the gun was brought out because some backstreet meeting turned sour. The mirror was broken as an excuse later on.

  6. Mila says:

Someone had asked if the engine was running because the air conditioner was on. Guess very few people could answer that question and most of them would not be inclined to unless this is a particular habit of the driver so more people might have noticed it in other instances.

Jew inkella l-mera mhiex ir-raguni vera ta’ li-sparatura u inkisret waqt li Sheehan kien qed issuq wara Smith. Wisq kwiet minn naha ta’ Smith.

Kif inhi li l-mera ta’ Smith tan-naha tas-sewwieq ghada shiha? Jista jaghti l-kaz ukoll li hemm arma ohra involuta?

Jekk wiehed jassumi li Sheehan spara minn hdejn il-bieba tas-sewwieq tieghu, kif hemm il-brake-light tax-xellug milqut b’tir dritt u dak ta’ fuq il-bumper fuq il-lemin hu tir dritt ukoll?

    Li kien mil-lemin tal-Mercedes ghax-xellug tal-Laguna, il-brake-light kien jitfarrak kollu.

  8. canon says:

When you drive down Nicolas Cottoner road or lane, you have to be very careful. The road is narrow and cars are parked on both sides of the road. When commercial vehicles are parked, the road becomes even more dangerous.

  9. petrovic says:

I find it strange that Smith’s car has U.K. number plates if he has been in Malta for a considerable number of years. Does he deal with importing second hand cars? Is the car his? The fact that Smith is still invisible raises more questions than answers.

  10. just me says:

There is still a great uncertainty as to when and what broke the mirror.

Were fragments of the broken mirror found? And where were they found?

It is possible that when the car chase started the mirror was still intact.

It might have been broken later on (in the tunnel maybe) as an excuse for the chase and the shooting.
