  7. Shame on you Minister Dalli says:

I refer to the snippet from TMI report:

“The Malta Independent pointed out to Dr Dalli that by definition, community of acquests means that assets are split 50-50 between the spouses.

Dr Dalli said the 50-50 split is only triggered if she separates from her husband or if her husband dies before her.

“At this point in time the community of acquests is not triggered. Like I told you, everything is in Parliament, everything is documented,” she said, before storming off.”

What I believe the reporter meant was that spouses jointly own property when acquired during marriage as is the case with Helena Dalli.

She states that at this moment in time there does not exist any community of acquests. This will only be triggered upon separation or death.

This statement is very worrying when coming from the Minister of Equal Opportunities. What is she saying? That she as Patrick Dalli’s wife does not own the property acquired by her husband?

One would expect that the Minister for Equal Opportunities would know what community of acquests is and consequently define it properly in public. Her lack of knowledge only help creates further misconceptions with those families where the husband believes he is the absolute owner of anything in the family. Shame on you Minister Dalli.

    • philip borg says:

The poor minister is VERY naive considering that she has been married to one of the Dalli brothers for ages and used to work for Dom Mintoff herself.

    • anthony says:

So the equal opportunities minister believes that her husband owns everything until he kicks the bucket.

Does she also believe that we are all idiots like herself, her husband and all those who vote for her?
