What price Cyrus Engerer, Marisa Schembri and gender issues now?

The honeymoon is over and Labour is beginning to discover what it means to be on the other side of the fence – a novel experience in at least two decades.

Actually, I think it’s a bit of a shock.

Helena Dalli

    Dr. Dalli’s taped interpretation of “Community of Acquests” was mind-bogglingly hilarious – diametrically opposite to the legal provisions.

    • ciccio says:

      Another Minister lying to cover up what is going on in a property where she has legal interest.

      Let’s quote from the law, shall we?

      From the Civil Code:

      1. Article 1316 (1) “Marriage celebrated in Malta shall, in the absence of an agreement to the contrary by public deed, produce ipso jure between the spouses the community of acquests.”

      Between the spouses, it says.

      2. Article 1319: “The right of each of the spouses to the community of acquests shall, saving any other provision of the law, commence from the day of the celebration of the marriage and terminate on the dissolution thereof.”

      The right of each of the spouses, the law says, commences from the day of the celebration of the marriage and terminate on the dissolution thereof. This is the opposite of what the Minister said when she suggested that her rights in the community of acquests commence if she separates her husband or if he dies.

      Helena Dalli, the Minister for Some Are More Equal Than Others, must go, or the prime minister must sack her.

      • Martin Farrugia says:

        God forbid if he has to sack all these incompetent fools of ministers. He’ll have to call another election. Evarist Bartolo, Konrad Mizzi, Owen Bonnici, Chris Cardona of lap dancing fame, Manwel Mallia, Helena Dalli, Joe Mizzi, all caught lying and doing wrong things which no government minister must ever do.

      • ciccio says:

        Let him call an election. The government is broken beyond repair.

      • Tabatha White says:

        @Martin Farrugia @Ciccio

        In a normal democracy, with ethical standards, the collective resignations of:

        “Evarist Bartolo, Konrad Mizzi, Owen Bonnici, Chris Cardona of lap dancing fame, Manwel Mallia, Helena Dalli, Joe Mizzi,”

        and a call for new elections is precisely what should be happening right now.

        This Government has misrepresented itself to the electorate on more than one issue.

        The Government is lacking the vital essential leadership skill set.

        All this is missing from the Labour Government under Joseph Muscat:

        integrity;
        moral character;
        humility;
        accountability;
        respect for the electorate;
        courage;
        honesty;
        authenticity;
        transparency;
        accountability;
        a genuine and strategic visionary plan of benefit to Malta’s economy and international reputation;
        wisdom;
        ethics;
        results;
        rasor sharp catalyzing technical, professional and diplomatic skills;
        the ability to recognise and implement the intangible codes of practice in each sector.

        It is unable to take on complexity and design progress.

        It is not willing to serve the nation, but only to be served by the nation.

        It is not coherent.

        It can no longer engender trust.

        It is a failed Government.

    Cannot think of any Minister who is not involved in some kind of scandal or controversy. Oh for those bad times under the nastyPN

  3. pablo says:

    Dalli waxes sophistical, like her Great Leader. She has a direct interest in the property as part of the business that is part of the community of acquests with her husband and even the town idiot knows that.

  4. wow says:

    Jason Desira has no money to buy that kind of house. And it’s been on konvenju since 2011.

  5. Emmanuel Mallia & Asses says:

    She’s obviously not aware of what the community of acquest means or how it works. Maye she forgot that Malta signed CEDAW in 1993?

  6. Drinks With Vince Micallef says:

    Marisa Schembri – I’d forgotten she is on the state payroll too. My God, it really is a trough.

  7. A V says:

    I can still remember that once she declared a bank balance of LM25. At home we still refer to her as ‘tal-hamsa u ghoxrin Lira’.
