Cultural donation from Baku

A reader has emailed me the following:

On Boxing Day I went to the Public Library in Floriana. The first place I visit is the new books section. Unbelievable, a whole shelf of new books on Azerbaijan. History, geography, literature, including one with the Boratesque title – “The Rise and Fall and Rise Again of Aliyev”.

Is this how the scant resources of the Public Library are being spent? Or did Kurt Farrugia perhaps bring them over from Baku?

My apologies for not taking a photo but my trusty Nokia is aeons away from being able to do that.

If those books were donated, they will soon be gathering dust. If not, a quick PQ to the appropriate (ir)responsible Minister should seek to clarify what are the priorities (if any) in respect of the purchasing of books by the Public Library.

  2. Knowing how dictators operate I am sure that these were donated by the dictator of Azerbaijan. I was flooded with such books from North Korea.

Maybe ‘our men in Baku’ were given books as prizes for behaving themselves during the screening of the propaganda film about the rise and fall and rise again of Aliyev.

    Bravi.

Anybody knows if those books contain copies of the MOUs signed by the prime minister in Baku?

Don’t remember they had been published, but now the list of unpublished contracts of public interest has grown so long, I am getting confused.

Was there a book on how the Maltese Prime Minister takes the Maltese public for a ride?

”The MOU has inexplicably not been published by the Maltese government but Mr Sadiqov said that it would be presented to the Azerbaijan Parliament for ratification, making it a public document in due course.”
