John Dalli’s bridesmaid Frank Zammit to contest council elections on Labour ticket/daughter is Super One reporter

Published: January 26, 2015 at 5:32pm

Frank Zammit, John Dalli’s devoted bridesmaid over many years, will be standing in the local council elections on the Labour Party ticket. There’s a story about it in The Malta Independent.

I can’t understand why he is described as a “Pn diehard”, though. He is anything but. He is a John Dalli diehard and his master is anything but a PN diehard himself.

Those are all, for want of a better word (switchers doesn’t quite cut it in this case or in the other ones mentioned in the story) New Labour.

Frank Zammit is so Labour that the Labour Party even found a job for his daughter, Trischia Falzon Zammit, at the party’s television station, Super One. Yes, Frank Zammit’s daughter Trischia is a Super One reporter.

She was also one of the I’M IN Labour campaign crowd in the general elections two years ago, and in the front line at Labour mass meetings, waving the party flag.

That should tell you roughly what was going on with Bahamas Dalli and the Labour Party.

Agreed, all these PN diehards, as if they have some title to what constitutes the true PN.

Talk about fanatism and its ills. That Busuttil not be leader.

A Muscat needs false prophets to overcome the growing apathy of the educated.

Movements are not engineered in conception.

    Who is his daughter?

  3. Don Camillo says:

The ex-Marsa PN mayor who left Marsa no better than the current incumbents did after so many years in office. He was never a PN diehard but an avid Dalli lecca culo, following Dalli from when the latter was a minister and even when his boss was in Brussels, wheeling and dealing. They were a great match.

If he is standing for the Marsa council election then it will be really interesting to see how he can convince Labour supporters that he is now siding with them and that his old time enemy, the current Marsa mayor, is now his friend and political ally.

    What a person.

  4. Manuel says:

People like Zammit were never Nationalist diehards. They are, and will always be, opportunistic jerks ready to jump on any bandwagon that gives them financial security and makes them popular.

  5. Betty says:

Many of us at BOV know well the very close connections that Frankie had with Dalli but he we know him as a strong Nationalist, not a bad work colleague and ready to help.

To tell all, we have and have had diehard Nationalists who only looked after themselves and were bitches to their fellow work colleagues, as much as the PL Cassar White crowd that has now taken over and running the Bank as another PL club.

We all hope that the time for a true professional culture change will arrive one day and a see a revival of MUBE of the 1980s and 90s, not the little relevance that trade unions have slowly become.

So his daughter Trischia works for Super One. Isn’t her father worried that some cabinet minister might make a pass at her?

Why do these people think that having a junk spelling of a name makes it ‘unique’?

Hekku PN diehard ukoll. The PL skip is an ongoing operation.

Frank Zammit was in the Marsa MZPN section committee in the 1980s. He was as thick as a brick wall.

The rumour is that Frank will become Malta’s next ambassador to the Vatican.

This “diehard” business so silly. Bruce Willis should sue. Or strip down to his undervest and knock some sense into the editors.

Joseph Muscat is quietly changing the MLP into the MLP.

When Dom Mintoff carried out his coup against his then leader, Paul Boffa, he gave everyone the impression that the MLP he was creating stood for Malta Labour Party when in fact it really meant the Mintoff Loyalists Party.

Like Mintoff before him, Joseph Muscat is now changing that MLP to his MLP, the Muscat Loyalists Party.

At first glance one may not grasp why Muscat does not shy away from surrounding himself with people from a different political background to his but there are very valid reasons for him to do so.

    a) Muscat knows that he does not hold a complete grip on all party members and there are undercurrents brewing as well as possible kontroll attakks.

    b) He knows that his popularity within his Party will now start to wane as is normal when one is in government.

    c) He knows that former nationalists will not hold historical ties to different loyalties within his Party.

    d) He knows that former nationalists will be grateful and loyal to him and to him alone.

    e) He knows that every former nationalist gained is worth two votes.

Is it possible that the real Malta Labour Party loyalists who gave a lifetime for what they believed are happy with this influx of former nationalists taking over important positions and pocketing good money?

The truth is that while Joseph Muscat stealthily builds HIS MLP they cheer him on until one day they will come to realise that they count for nothing, their strength has been depleted and their few remaining votes no longer have any significance.

Joseph Muscat’s hijack would be complete and the real MLP would be dead.

You mean John Dalli had a Labour supporter assisting him?

Frank Zammit has been handsomely rewarded for his services to J. Dalli B.A. in the E.U., because when Dalli was kicked out by Barroso, Zammit rejoined Bank of Valletta with the grade of Head Manager, earning a yearly salary of between €40k and €48k, thus being promoted like many other diehard Labour supporters in the bank 3 or 4 times in a row.

  17. pacikk says:

No wonder he managed to negotiate his way to a very high position in a bank, just before the general elections. And to think that jahasra he had to pull hard at strings to safeguard a good position.

    Taghna Lkoll indeed.

  18. capsa says:

Yes, it seems that Frank Zammit, il-Kardinal, had already crossed over to Labour when he was still Minister John Dalli’s secretary (or head of Ministry?) because his relations with Labour journalists were so close that in Parliament he would invite a particular Super One lady journalist to the Minister’s office to “have a chat” with the Minister.

That ‘chat’ would be followed by a report in Kulhadd and on Super One about the way Dalli was being ‘mistreated’ by the Nationalist Party/government.

  19. Joe Micallef says:

Zammit would be grateful if you refer to him as Dalli’s altar boy.

  22. Frans Cassar says:

Frank Zammit left the Nationalist Party the day his master John Dalli lost his race with Lawrence Gonzi.

And after that date whilst still heading Dalli’s ministry he started doing harm to the Gonzi government especially when people went to the ministry’s customer care desk for help.

    See you in hell, Frank.

Lately there was a RAI 1 mini-series about St. Francis of Assisi whose closest friend couldn’t but just couldn’t let go of power.

The dying St. Francis who knew what his friend’s major sin was, sweetly told him: ‘You’re going to Hell but I still love you.’

So…’Dear Vatikanist, grab as much as you can on this Earth but in the Afterlife…’ By the way that goes also to all perpetrators of injustices in this world.
