No tickets, please – I’m important

This car belongs to Mario Azzopardi, head of secretariat to the Minister of the Economy, Chris Cardona. He’s parked there on the corner outside the Labour Party club in Birkirkara, and because his car doesn’t have obvious links to the government, he took the precaution of leaving a sheet of paper on the dashboard with the words MINISTERU TAL-INVESTIMENT.

The head of secretariat usually has a car as part of the perks of the job. It would be interesting to know if this White Mercedes is actually funded by taxpayers’ money.

Perhaps the Ministry for Home Affairs can explain who and who is not above the law?

It seems that Ministries have adopted the habit of not reacting to uncomfortable transgressions by their personnel. The opposition should make these public.

Hard work really pays these days.

  8. Gustizzja says:

What? Is it OK to park on yellow lines if we write some note that we are from some Ministry? Oh, simplification, I guess.

I was made to pay a fine just because I did not put my indicator on a roundabout in the early hours of one fine Sunday. No cars where behind me or in front of me, but the point was that I did not fully observe the traffic code, and I had to pay for this mistake.
