What do you expect of a piece of detritus from the cabinets of Mintoff, KMB and Sant?

karmenu vella vote

Karmenu Vella refused to tell Times of Malta how he will vote in the spring hunting referendum. It’s because he’s an EU Commissioner now, he says, and not part of the Maltese political scene, so it wouldn’t be appropriate.

What a piece of sleaze. I see nothing much has changed with him since he was slithering around Mintoff’s cabinet table.

It wasn’t a problem for Il-Guy, was it, when John Dalli was an EU Commissioner and featuring practically every other week on the Labour Party’s television station, ranting and raving about his Sargas power station, the Maltese government and Maltese political issues. Has Dante got a circle of hell for specimens like these?

He was also in Muscat’s cabinet so list it in your title please.

  2. Leone says:

He might be a European Commissioner but still responsible for enviroment, so yes we are interested in how he votes. The same goes for our own environment upholder: Leo Brincat.

  3. A.Attard says:

Of course: the ignavi, but they do not have a circle because are unwanted even by the devil, and so are confined to the ante-inferno.

  4. tania says:

He should have had the decency to stay out of this. If he represents the Commission, as he states in his interview, then the least he should do is not vote at all.

The Commission is the executive arm of the Union, which prohibits spring hunting.

The Union only acceded to Malta’s request to continue to hunt during this period by way of derogation from its laws.

As things stand, he’s chosen to run with the hare and hunt with the hounds.

      What hare and hounds?

Knowing Vella very well he would run with Jesus Christ and hunt with el angel caido, anytime.

      Mark Micallef please note.

  5. john says:

The same goes for his colleague from the golden years, Leo Brincat. The Minister for the Environment refuses to inform the electorate how he intends to vote on a matter concerning the environment.

  6. canon says:

Karmenu Vella was voted in by MEPs, so even MEPs are entitled to know how he will be voting on spring referendum.

“Has Dante got a circle of hell for specimens like these?”

They can fit very well in the eighth (Karmenu Vella) and ninth (John Dalli) circles.

  8. Jozef says:

    Oh yes, the eighth.

  9. Pete says:

Has Dante got a circle of hell for specimens like these?

I would say yes. The Malebolge, that is the eighth circle of the Inferno, divided into ten ditches.

The first ditch (Canto 18) hosts the pimps and seducers.

The fifth ditch (Cantos 21 and 22) has the swindlers and grafters.

The sixth ditch (Canto 23) is for the hypocrites.

The seventh ditch (Canto 24 and 25) is reserved for the thieves.

The eighth ditch (Canto 26 and 27) is for fraudsters.

The ninth ditch (Canto 28 and 29) hosts the creators of strife.

    Good reading!

    • H.P. Baxxter says:

Looks like Malta can lay claim to all of these ditches.

    • Spock says:

There ! Dante’s hell nicely sorts out the members of the PL cabinet into their appropriate ditches . The only problem is , which ditch do you you throw in an MP who qualifies for more than one ? For example I can name quite a few who would fit comfortably in the first , the seventh, and definitely the sixth .

  10. Be-witched says:

Just chuck the majority of politicians in Hell and let the devil sort them out himself. At least he’ll have some fun puzzling it out.

  11. Cikku says:

Anke jekk jgħid kif se jivvota, jien xorta ma nemmnux. U intom?!

  12. Sun Tzu says:

That’s so that he will eventually tell us that he actually voted NO. You know, just as he voted YES in the EU referendum.

  13. Caroline says:

Gli ignavi – canto terzo. They are not worthy of a proper circle in hell.
