Government IT agency MITA is blocking access to this website at MCAST

I have received various reports from students at the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology that they are trying to load this website via their personal computers, using MCAST wi-fi (which is managed by the government IT agency MITA) and find that it is blocked.

They have no similar problems with Times of Malta, The Malta Independent, Malta Today, other news sites, Facebook and social media.

It is only daphnecaruanagalizia.com that’s being blocked.

The message students receive when trying to visit this site is in the screen-shot below.

Perhaps Education Minister Evarist Bartolo – who used to teach journalism at the University of Malta – might care to ask his people why? I’m not assuming it’s his fault – it could be the pro-active initiative of somebody at the government’s IT agency. It’s happened before in other government-controlled wi-fi areas.
