Leader of No campaign takes money from Yes campaign

On page 20 of Malta Today’s print edition today, there is a large advertisement for the Yes (pro spring-hunting) campaign. This wouldn’t be exceptional – they have to advertise somewhere and newspapers cannot get by without advertising – were it not for the fact that Malta Today is 50% owned by Saviour Balzan and Balzan is the leader and prime mover of the No campaign.

If Balzan were merely against the hunters, that he takes their advertising wouldn’t be worthy of comment. But given that he is leading the campaign against them, the context shifts.
