Why did Evarist Bartolo not make Humbert Mozzi’s name public? It’s on the MCST website.

Opposition spokesman Mario Demarco asked in parliament about the ‘China Liaison Officer’ who Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando engaged at the Malta Council for Science and Technology “in a position of trust”.

As this website explained in great detail some days ago, Pullicino Orlando and Humbert Mozzi, the man in question, are friends and have been friends for a while, since the days when Carmen Ciantar (one of the wives who got away) and Donna Mozzi (Maltese, married to Humbert) were office colleagues.

Yet Evarist Bartolo, another ‘friend of Jeff’ – they have been collaborating politically since the days when Pullicino Orlando had a seat in the House on the PN ticket – chose not to give Mozzi’s name in parliament along with his explanation of the post, but said he would give it to Demarco under separate cover.

See the story in Times of Malta this morning. I cannot understand why, given that Humbert Mozzi’s name and job title have been in the public domain for quite a while now, on the Malta Council for Science and Technology’s website.

Another thing I can’t understand: why newspapers write stories in this way, focusing on the ‘event’ in question, in this case the question in parliament, instead of pulling in information from different sources to give a complete picture and a proper service to readers.

Times of Malta shouldn’t have reported the story without the name of the China Liaison Officer in question, just because Evarist Bartolo didn’t make it public in parliament. They have the name: it’s on the MCST website and there was a big story about Mozzi on this website too.
