Murat Karaduman, the Turkish construction magnate who bought – or is in the process of buying; it isn’t clear – Maltese passports for himself and his entire family told TVM that he is in negotiations with the government to take over the Floriana prime-site building which houses Sir Paul Boffa Hospital for cancer patients and turn it into a hotel.

The cancer hospital will be moving to a new location shortly.

The movers and shakers at the Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association and the Malta Developers Association must be absolutely delighted at this move.

If anybody gets their claws into that building, they will want it to be one of them.
