Carol Peralta was the magistrate hearing the criminal case against Leisure Clothing’s operators, who stand accused of exploiting and abusing trafficked workers at their CMT – cut, make, trim – clothing factory.

The factory is 100% directly owned by the Chinese government.

Now that he has resigned from the bench, the case will have to be reassigned to another magistrate, who will have to review the entire proceedings and testimony and perhaps even make his or her own site visits.

This will slow down the case considerably.
