The main issue here is that we still don’t know whose money it is

transparency

I find the sight of this hospital, as revealed in a Malta Today report, really dispiriting.

But I think the main issue here is that we still don’t know whose money/investment it is and who will own it.

At least with the American University of Baksheesh, the shareholding in Sadeen Education Investment Ltd is not concealed by means of fiduciary companies and is plainly revealed to be that of a single individual and not a corporation as suggested in the media and in government propaganda. The only shareholder is the Jordanian Hani Hasan Naji Al Salah.

But with this hospital project at Smart City, the identity of the owners, who are described as “Italian” – and therefore the source of their money – is concealed by means of a series of fiduciary companies and fiduciary representatives.

In other words, we have no idea where the “Italian” money is coming from for that hospital, who is investing in building this hospital, and who will ultimately own it.

I think it’s the first thing the Opposition and the press need to chase down.

Completely concealing from the public the owners’ identity and money source of a major project like this is the opposite of transparency. It is insulting and also looks very, very shady.

People who have nothing to hide don’t hide it. There’s got to be a reason why the investors and the source of their money are hidden behind fiduciary representation and it’s completely unacceptable that the government colludes with them in hiding the facts from the rest of us.
