CEO of illegal Montekristo zoo (a lawyer) tries to shift blame for tiger incident onto “Malta’s low standards”

Jean Paul Sammut (pictured below), a lawyer who is chief executive officer of the illegal Montekristo zoo and the vast wedding-hall estate on which it sits, spoke to Times of Malta today and tried to shift the blame for the tiger incident to “Malta’s poor safety standards”.

In other words, he said that the only reason they don’t have safety standards is because “Malta” doesn’t have them. He then drew a comparison with the injury of 28 people when a speeding car careered into the watching crowd during a fundraising even organised by President Coleiro’s office.

You can see what’s happening here: “The President’s event injured 28 people and my tiger injured only one.”

The interesting thing is that Sammut is on excellent terms with President Coleiro. You can see her giving him a bear-hug in one of the photographs below. She has often been to the Montekristo estate and has patronised and even organised events there.
