That opening ceremony: the height of naffness and Ray Calleja’s taste and preferences stamped all over it

Only Muscat seems to be enjoying it.
What on earth is that, anyway – Felix Busuttil and his dancers dressed as super-camp sailors, a pastiche of ‘history’ in a dance-hall performance, and the Eurovision Song Contest mentality that leaves certain kinds of people in Malta completely unable to distinguish between what is appropriate for a ‘festival tal-kant’ and what is appropriate for an opening ceremony for a international political meeting.
This is hideous.
