The faces of corruption and sleaze

Muscat said at his press conference this afternoon that he will not be doing anything about Keith Schembri “because he is not an elected politician”.

Exactly what does that have to do with the price of eggs? He’s not an elected politician so he can set up companies in Panama and restructure his company in the British Virgin Islands while he’s in office and fix deals and sniff around and pull strings and be even more corrupt than he was before he got into office because now there’s far more money to be made.

Oh, and even thought he was unsuccessful at opening a bank account with the nine banks Mossack Fonseca tried on his behalf, for his Panama company, Keith Schembri does have a secret bank account tied to his other offshore company in the British Virgin Islands.

He set up that company in 2011 before people knew he was a PEP (as a key member of the then Opposition party, he was a PEP already in 2011). His BVI company was restructured in 2013, but it was set up two years before that. It has a bank account, all right, and no doubt that bank account is doing just fine now that he and his mate Brian Tonna – the corrupt accountant – are safely ensconced in the Auberge de Cash Till.
