Ahoy there – corrupt cabinet minister and consul aboard

Konrad Mizzi, Malta’s corrupt ‘minister in the Office of the Prime Minister’, and his estranged wife, Malta’s corrupt consul in Shanghai, set sail – well, motored out, really – from a berth in Senglea this afternoon with several unprepossessing people on a Malta-flagged yacht.

The Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister is wearing a white T-shirt and has his back to the camera, while Sai Liang is the one with long, straight black hair.

Now that we know for a fact she’s in Malta, and we don’t need to hunt her down at her invisible address in Shanghai, it’s time to ask her what her plans are as from next month, when the renewal of her contract falls due. When he was elected deputy leader of the Labour Party as news of his Panama corruption broke, her husband told the press that he and she had discussed the matter and that they decided – because, apparently, it’s their prerogative to decide – that her contract would not be renewed in view of his new party position.

Now that he has been forced to relinquish that position, to be replaced by somebody who looks to be even sleazier but without as much access to the means of corrupt in terms of major contracts, this excuse no longer holds. So will Sai Liang’s contract be renewed?

And if it is not renewed, will she be returning to Malta or will she stay in Shanghai with the children, getting up to who knows what in terms of visa arrangements for Chinese people and North Koreans?
