FAA boss Astrid Vella in top-secret meetings with construction magnate Sandro Chetcuti

Astrid Vella, who controls the anti-construction lobby which she co-founded, Flimkien Ghall-Ambjent Ahjar (FAA), held a top-secret meeting last week with Sandro Chetcuti, president of the Malta Developers Association.

The news was broken, rather oddly, by Albert ‘Bawzer Hara’ Gauci Cunningham, who featured heavily in Joseph Muscat’s election campaign in 2012 and 2013, even to the point of featuring on street billboards.

After a brief stint with the General Workers Union newspaper L-Orizzont, he now works for Malta Today’s Maltese-language stablemate, Illum.

When the newspaper rang both Vella and Chetcuti for comments, they said that they are “looking for ways in which their two organisations can cooperate” and that “this is but the first of what will be a series of meetings between them”.

Let’s hope that cunning shrew isn’t planning on taking sponsorship from that disgusting, shady lout who specialises in donations and pounds of flesh. You really never know what’s going on beneath the surface in this large Sicilian village. I’m so suspicious of that woman and her apparently random choices on whether to be silent or vociferous.

It's been a long time since she led a protest demonstration.
