Imagine facing the prospect of living for the rest of your life in a totally alien culture

Edward Snowden clearly wants to go back home, or at least to somewhere that resembles home. Who can blame him? When you grow up in a democracy, however flawed it may be, getting used to life in a society where the values are non-Western (however much you might have carped at them) and the government is fascist, is impossible. It is an alien culture, and not in a good or fascinating way.

Now he’s appealed for Obama to pardon him before he bows out. I really think Obama should.
