Transport Malta director has young son put on Transport Malta payroll

Transport Malta director Mark Sammut, who was appointed to the state transport authority board by the incoming Muscat government, has had his young son, who is still an information technology student, put on the Transport Malta payroll as an IT technician. Pio Sammut’s engagement became effective a few weeks ago.

Mark is no stranger to allegations of corruption and cronyism. He is a very close associate of and collaborator with disgraced former European Commissioner John Dalli, and when Prime Minister Muscat appointed Dalli as his consultant on matters related to the state hospitals, Dalli’s first act was to recruit Sammut’s one-man operation to create a new software system for registering appointments at the state general hospital, with results that can most charitably be described as ‘mixed’.
