“Your people are starving”

So the Maltese are the fattest people in Europe. Not a surprise, because though living here you get used to seeing fat people everywhere and don’t register it, when you come back home after a short while away, it’s one of the first things you notice other than the general shabbiness. Just as one of the first things you notice on city streets elsewhere in Europe is that there are no fat people – and that all the women are wearing flat shoes. I rather suspect the two things go together.
