Let’s face it: the €240 these two paid between them for the open bar at the Portomaso Tower’s Level 22 club is a whole lot cheaper than the €700 Dubai hotel minibar bill they palmed off on the public purse.

But then they probably didn’t pay to get into that party – what, charge the Minister and his chief of staff? – so it would have been another bout of freeloading anyway.
