The mysterious death of Nicholas Azzopardi is to haunt the Malta Police Force for a long.

I waited enough for any regular posters of this forum to remind all of the death of Bastjan Borg of Qormi some 12 months ago.

As in Azzopardi's case a magisterial inquiry into the death of Bastjan Borg of Qormi, shot dead by police officer…remains incomplete.

Call it or name it what you like, an enquiry is a tool to hide the truth from us all.

Who really is that moron to believe the official police statement, which claimed "that he fell or jumped, from the wall behind the police headquarters”?.Such a satement hurts our intelligence.

“An Independent Enquiry” appointed by any Administration, and even worse when appointed by a Minister, who should himself shoulder political responsibilities for an event, is NEVER Independent.

Such enquiry would never REVEAL or make public the truth of events. Very often it is ‘a crude way’ to cover up the illegalities that happened.

Our dear Daphne says that she had experienced such brutal behaviour at the police headquarters. Times haven’t changed anything. Justice can never be served by appointing an Independent enquiry, which certainly can never be Independent.

All indications shows that some one is repeating history.

Is what I read somewhere else true? Namely; that this poor soul was transferred directly from the ITU to a common hospital ward when apparently still weak? If true, I find this highly baffling. Unfortunately, some time ago, a member of my immediate family was admitted to the ITU (St. Luke's). When she came to her senses and 'qualified' to be transferred from ITU she was admitted to HDU (High Dependency Unit), which ward was very close to the ITU, in fact one lead to the other. In this ward (HDU) patients will still be under constant nursing observations, just like the ITU. In fact she then had a relapse, so was again moved to the ITU, then again transferred to the HDU - then from the HDU, finally and thank GOD, she was taken to a common ward - but only when her weakness turned into ample strength.

Here's what Anglu said, in all its mistake-laden glory - Extracted from www.anglufarrugia.com :

"Anglu Farrugia claims government cast shadow on judiciary system by conducting two separate investigations
The Labour spokesman for Justice Anglu Farrugia said that it was an irresponsible decision when Magistrate Antonio Vella was already conducting a magisterial inquiry into the same case.

said that by appointing a separate inquiry, the Justice Minister cast doubts on the judicial system.

The police are claiming that the man had escaped from police HQ, jumped over a wall overlooking the trade school behind the HQ, and taken to hospital.

On his part, before dying, the victim alleged that he was brutally beating by the police."

Forgetting the contents of the above - When is the man going to learn that English cannot be translated literally from Maltese (Oh, and that the first word of a sentence should always begin with a capital letter!)

Anglu's got a long, long way to go (no, not to India) before he can even begin to write proper English. Meanwhile, I suggest that he leaves English out of his website, and concentrates on having it in Maltese instead. (Well, at least that way he won't make us a laughing stock, though many of us will miss the (poor attempt at) "English" version of his site!)

Well written Daphne.

Now we have maltastar.com claiming that it "is exclusively informed that the government’s decision to appoint Judge Albert Manche’ to hold a separate inquiry is being perceived as lack of confidence in the magistrates’ [plural??] work." Oh dear. I can immagine the Minister of Justice and/or the PM personally calling maltastar to divulge the breaking news.

Also note the plural form of "magistrates' work". Guess the retired judge will have quite a bit on his plate to hold independent inquiries for all magisterial inquiries.
