Yes I did look at my map and yes the Concorde was scrapped a few years ago. I was being facetious. if you look at the map you will find that Greece and Cyprus are much further away from Brussels than Malta as the crow flies. I have a sneaking suspicion that some MEPs in Eastern Europe are also prone to long journeys.
My comment was not meant to reflect on Simon Busuttil’s performance (quite the opposite, he has done a lot in his usual quiet way). I was more irked by the writer’s impression that Malta was the back of beyond. Since when is a 2 and a half hour journey such a long trip. I suspect the Eurostar from Brussels to London is of a similar length

Re Simon Busuttil’s hagiography, i was rather amused at this line:
“his five-hour return flights to and from Brussels mean he has a lot further to travel to work than most other MEPs.”
Do the Greeks and Cypriots travel by Concorde? I can think of a lot of people who have to travel further and longer because of their jobs. What’s the big deal?

[Daphne – He does have a lot further to travel than most other MEPS, because we’re at the southernmost tip of Europe. Bring out a map. I didn’t know Concorde was still around. I thought it was scrapped some years ago after a little accident in Paris. It’s true that it’s no big deal given that many of us commute for two hours a day in the winter rush hour traffic, to and from work on the busiest routes.]

@Daphne. It seems you have upset Otello, the one the cat dragged in ( yes, I still laugh at that picture and the caption). He wants to go to court to have you condemned, No doubt, he ghas already found a friendly red policeman to do his dirty work, and will make sure that the case goes in front of a siutably partial magistrate. Thats the way the MLP manages to tweak the justice system. As i said, its not the MLP who takes umbrage when mocked, its its leaderxipp. I just like it when I’m proved right :)

As I had predicted this is another stunt, similar to the roaming charges one, Muscat wants to make everyone believe that all the EU will back ‘his’ proposal of lowering the voting age, and everyone all europe adopt ‘Muscat’s proposal’. How pathetic!!

Simon is an example of what an MEP should be doing, without the fanfare an hype that surrounded Joseph Muscat’s every move in the E P . The man just gets on with it, and is respected for his intellect and his hard work. DCMJM’s acolytes and assorted elves are assidious in documenting and publicizing his every move and utterance. No wonder the Voodoo Dolls have come out this morning.
