Daphne - You told Victor Laiviera "now what would you call a track record like that? Sheer bloodymindedness? Deep denial? Inability to learn from one's mistakes?"

Quite a lot to respond to here but I won't waste time.

1. I'm not scared off by anyone, least of all you Amanda.

2. Regarding the editing comment, I have edited a few newspapers and a news bulletin before but have no hope of getting The Times job as they usually choose blue eyed boys. And I wouldn't want it anyway - happy where I am.

3. Nestor Laiviera is a very intelligent chap and is excellent material if The Times lets him evolve. Unlike other journalists who spring to mind and who are constantly falling over to praise the government.

Dear, oh dear, what a fulmination - and in bold too! I must have touched a raw nerve.I just chucked in a comment cos I happened to see my name mentioned - looks like my next absence will be even longer than my last. Enjoy your groupthink.

[Daphne - Victor, all my replies are in bold. You didn't get lucky. Do I detect a hint of that inappropriate cockiness (for a man of your age) that manifested itself all over the internet before the last election? "See you at Castille; bring your red flag." Amazing what a bottom-of-the-barrel scraping like Muscat can do for the confidence of a bunch of losers. And for somebody who claims to absent himself from this blog, you pop up pretty quickly whenever you see your name mentioned. Go off and enjoy your intellectual conversations with Anglu tal-iljunfant and Toni ta' Otello. They must be ever so stimulating.]

Q; Did Victor Laiviera join the Times lately? Since when did the Times lower its standards for it journalists / reporters? Before we know it, Gerald would be editing the paper.

[Daphne - That's his son, Nestor, and he shouldn't be blamed for his father. It's not his fault.]

@ HP Baxxter

Gerald did not mention the PN, he mentioned the President. However, the fact that you automatically equated the two speaks volumes.I see Amanda Mallia is missing the dissenting voices. It must get pretty boring having to listen to oneself or one's clones.Enjoy your groupthink. You are so out of touch with what is happening in Malta it's not even funny. And many thanks to Daphne - she really made my day with her reference to witches of all things!

[Daphne - As somebody who lurks in this blog but pretends not to do so (like so many other of your little Labour friends, including Toni Abela), you should know there are plenty of dissenting voices. You were conspicuous because, unlike many of the dissenting voices here, which are clearly of a much younger generation than you are, you voted for Dom Mintoff, voted for KMB, voted for the return of KMB in 1992, voted for Sant in 1996, voted for the return of Sant in 1998, voted against EU membership and for 'partnership' in 2003, voted again for the return of Sant in 2008, and this despite a modicum of brains and some education.....now what would you call a track record like that? Sheer bloodymindedness? Deep denial? Inability to learn from one's mistakes? Absence of emotional intelligence? Group-think is what happens among Labour supporters, which is how they are persuaded to vote for the political equivalent of a two-headed monkey, but deep in your trough, you can't see that. It's the Labour Party which attracts unthinking sheep and headless chickens, and that's how it can get away with murder. And as for your reference to witches, please (1) know that there are male witches, and (2) read my comment today elsewhere on this blog, in which I pointed out that all the back-biting I have received over the years has come from insecure women and from nondescript men. You fall into the latter category.]
