Some malicious people have defined this appointment as another clever move by Gonzi to ensure Abela does not succeed Joseph Muscat after Labour’s next election defeat. Having said that, I am sure Dr.George Abela is more than competent for the job and will prove in a short time to be a people’s President. I wish him well.

Yes, I saw them too and I couldn’t believe what I was reading since at the end of the day the buck stops with Gonzi or am I wrong?

So if this is the case, Gonzi should be the one to heap such praise. But the Lil’elves would rather throw themselves in the path of a bull(s)’ (hehe) stampede than admit to such a thing

Just read your article on The Malta Independent. Thank you for reproducing the facts, Daphne. Presumably you’ll be uploading it here too. It is good for people to remember or if too young, to know what type of world Malta was then. It is all too easy to forget for some. I hope the Bonellos get the compensation that is due to them. What irks me though is that the Maltese tax-payer is always left carrying the can for such injustices – the Pace family or the family of Patrick Holland should pay that compensation. They are the ones that benefited from the corruption. It is time that people are made personally responsible for their actions.

Just out of boredom, I do hope this will not be the end of hearing about the alleged EUR 70,000 in Magic Kiosk’s till. Anybody who runs a shop knows that at the end of a day’s work a shopkeeper takes what is referred to as a z-reading from the cash register, which is basically a synopsis of the day’s takings. So I’m going to sit tight and wait for Mr. Pace to show us all sceptics his z-reading of EUR 70,000. And if he doesn’t have it, well I guess he’s going to have a lot of explaining to do to the VAT and Income Tax Departments.
