Digging into a site wherein lie artefacts protected by the cultural heritage act is illegal. The Foundation itself reported the owner of a nearby outlet for excavating the cellar and in so doing damage to part of St. John's priceless underground heritage only a few years back.

[Daphne - You haven't a clue what you're talking about. And you're talking to somebody who is trained in the field - remember. This is what I mean about the presumption of know-nothings, who cannot distinguish between their opinion and facts or evidence.]

Why didn`t Din l-art helwa publish their opinion again when the controvesy was at its peak? Unbelievable that a number of people chose to ignore them and believe FAA instead - however, I had completely forgotten reading that article in November. At the time it didn't seem that important. Pity they didn't speak out again more recently, together with some architects/engineers who could explain that if after further examination there was the remotest danger to the cathedral the whole project would be scrapped.

[Daphne - Yes, it was a massive public affairs problem, which allowed Mrs Vella to claim that it was a problem of wrong-doing. Few people stopped to think: now hang on, would Monsigor Calleja seek to destroy the cathedral? Or even, now who is more credible, Monsignor Calleja, or Astrid Vella? To be frank, those are the only two questions I answered to myself. And that's all I needed. But then, I happen to know Astrid Vella and where she's coming from. Others may only have seen her on television and taken her at face value as a freedom-fighter.]
