You really have no idea what this opera represents to the repressed generation that is mine, Sir. It represents a time when we truly lived in a world of lies, half truths, violence and Dom- adoration by many, but not by all of us. Three years earlier I saw the PN kazin next door to my house burn, Sir, with the Labour mob that torched it dancing around the burning pyre of its contents. I was 10 years old. It is you and your ilk that have burned that image into my brain. Three years later I saw The Times building burn, and Eddie’s house ransacked, and my classmate, his son, terrified out of his wits. Again, the proverbial torca that your singers sing so blithely about and wave about in that pseudo-farce that you promote burned that, and many other images, into my mind, and the mind of many of our generation.

You have a responsibility to the younger generation and to history and you have failed. You have staged this opera and coated it with sweetness in order to gloss over these incidents and many others. You hope to present an image of the PL of those times as some kind of liberator and saviour, and draw parallels with our times. The suggestion is clear. The PL will liberate you from your woes today as Mintoff did in ’79.

You will not succeed. Our generation has seen the worst possible excesses perpetrated in the name of this ridiculous “Helsien” that you bleat about in your commedia buffa. We will keep on reminding our children and their children that the PL may change its leaders as many times as they might change their children’s nappies, but they will remain the same bitter, disgruntled and envious people they were in 1979, 1987, 1992, 1996, 1998, 2002, 2003, and 2008. You think you can govern because “its your turn”. We think that you will never be fit to govern.

Oh, you may stage as many ‘rok opri’ as you want. You and the Man From Moscow in these blogs can snigger all you like. But the facts remain the same.

Gensna, or Niesna, or whatever it is called, has been staged this year to give a much needed leg up to the PL. No mistake about it. In the process it has reminded everybody of how utterly false the ’79 Helsien was, and how little, despite the many bloody noses, the PL has changed.

But at least let me thank you for providing us with those truly naff and hilarious promos from 1979 on your website. And the sight of Drydocks workers in drag vinyl skirts as well as various hirsute people crawling around on the earth like some gigantic hairy beetle. I laughed.

Problem is, that you and MLP supporters seem to have a life of your own, totally outside reality and commonsense. We do not hate the MLP or LP or whatever it is nowadays. We pity you.

You criticize others, such as Sander, on being racist against people of a different race, but my dear, please do us all a favour and look in the mirror. Take a good look at yourself, because you are a hypocrite, and a racist yourself! Not a racial racist perhaps, but definately a political racist beacuse you HATE anyone or anything that is associated with MLP!

Your insults do not make me worse or you better. It is a gentleman’s obligation to apologize. Or am I expecting too much. Freedom of expression entails responsibility and self regulation. I would have expected higher standards of correctness in a blog run by such a distinguished jounalist.
