Hi Daphne you might as well answer my question to Mr Purdie.

The local industry and business had grown by the help of the local Banks, National Bank and others.

It seems that you have no idea how the British used to employ thousands of workers when needed them and then throw out on the street.

[Daphne – I wasn’t talking about industrial growth or employment, but of everything else that sets us apart from Sicily and its satellite islands that is the direct result of 160 years of British rule. But if you do wish to concentrate on industrial growth and employment – what do you think the alternative would have been, better or worse? Worse, definitely.]

In reply to victor rodenas. I don't agree. Of course they concern her. What if a party wanted to withdraw Belgium from the EU? That would affect her. Why shouldn't she be able to vote against it (or for it)?

When I think about marriage – in Church – I think that the union between man and woman, with all the vows to cherish etc etc until death is a willing call to God to be their witness. So, logically I do not think that that union can be deleted just by introducing legislation. The couple become one and I feel that they should so remain until death separates them.

[Daphne – That’s the religious position and we are not living in a theocracy. At the secular level, marriage is a legal contract between two people and like all contracts, it can and should be terminated when those involved see fit.]
