And, what’s worse, Newley admitted it was semi-autobiographical. A woman giving birth to a child with a big hole in its back, while he makes love to a girl just a few paces away, on the same beach.

The appearance of Satan, giving psychedelic drugs to Newley. Why, even the songs are mostly annoying, with one making reference to a princess who was having an affair with a donkey.

No wonder Joan Collins declared that the film would lead to her divorce from Newley (it did). Not to mention that he put his two young children by Collins in the cast.

I never said he wasn’t a good singer.or songwriter, or what have you. And Fellini is not one of my favourite film directors either, but that’s just a matter of taste; it doesn`t make him any less brilliant.

To me, he, too, was kind of weird with his hallucinatory insights, paranoia, and his obsession with parapsychology. I live in this “petty country”, dear Chris, but NOT in fear.
