"“but one must address the list of university courses which do not contribute anything to the national ecomony or even worse, allowing graduates to leave the island and seek their fortunes overseas after having been educated in Malta for free.”

Shades of Dom Mintoff with his degress not worth the paper they are printed on mantra and the 1977 medical profession massacre resulting in a mass exodus of our best consultants and doctors to pastures new abroad ! It is obvious that you were not born yet in those tumultous times but am I right in stating that you hanker after those times? ""

I expected him to be worse than he was, maybe the shock of him not being that bad clouded my judgment.

Many of those who support Labour cannot understand that people are individuals with different brains and ideas, and some are expressive and open to ideas and change.

I do not need to defend Dr. Farrugia as I do not think he wants to be defended. He seems happy with what he has done – let’s make sure we do not confuse his objections with the objections that Joseph Muscat should have raised 303 sittings or 33 months ago.

He needs to become a bit more sly, our Joseph – jew kif nghidu ahna ‘naqa wijz’.

If an MP doesn't agree with something he can abstain from voting. If I had voted for him I would have to lump it as I have, sort of, authorised him to act on my behalf.

But I would have voted for him/her to act on my behalf WITHIN THE PARTY he represented.

No way should he be allowed to cross over to the other party until there are new elections.

If he is so dissatisfied he can just resign from parliament. What right does he have to ignore the wishes of his voters?

Frankly, I sincerely beleive that the whole saga mounted by JPO regarding the divorce issue was simply an ingenius plan by the party to alienate the nation and smokescreen the Power station scandal at the time, And it seems to have worked perfectly wonders because most of the people bit the cheese and are more concerned about the divorce issue that the 4 million euro commisison pocketed at tax payer's expense

Well as far as jean-Pierre is concerned, if he really a true believer of this honoraria controversy, he should stick to his guns and not let himself waiver under some pathetic offer his backbenchcounterparts were given to hush up, Appearing on Miriam Dalli's programme was an appaling decision which only went to show the huge cracks in the party. And all of this while John dalli is barking about the earthquake within the PN ranks.

However, knowing JP Farrugia well I misy admit that his reluctance to dance to the tune like the ordinary circus bear must, at least deserve some admiration. This is not a man driven by crass ambition, this is a man who is dedicated to the cause and his profession, has been battling with a family illness for years and is a stern believer in what he does. Maybe a True Nationalist!

In spite of all this I can never see JP farrugia fly away in some private Jet with two prominent businessmen on the eve of an important act in parliament such as the gaming act, and get away with it!!!

[Daphne - And once more, my antennae haven't let me down. I suspected you were going to turn out to be one of those commenters who start out by sounding reasonable and rational and end up spitting and revealing exactly where they're coming from.]

I have this feeling that Pullicino Orlando is taking us for a ride. I pitied him when he cried in Mosta and defended him in the newspapers, but all I can say is that I was wrong.

I thought he earned his living as a dentist. I had no idea he was dealing in land. He disappointed me with the objection to the museum of St John’s and he showed utter disrespect towards the democratic process when he wanted to pass a divorce law without the electorate being consulted in an electoral programme.

He thinks he’s running the show and that we should be eternally grateful .

Thanks for your answer, which is quite comprehensive. What I had in mind was a resignation from parliament.

I liked the bit about Magistrate Herrera. At this point, I am more worried that Pullicino Orlando - who is a government MP and pushing for divorce legislation - dines with her, rather than John Bundy doing so.
