I sincerely hope that all this is not wishful thinking

Let’s hope there is something left to save, by Friday.

Whether or not one expects such actions does not, in itself, justify them, does it?

Will they kill Saadi too, or is he on safari somewhere in Africa?

The no fly zone is imminent, the USS Enterprise is just off the Libyan coast. Just a while ago it was joined by a nuclear submarine and a destroyer, so the no-fly zone will go in effect no later than Friday, if not before.

The tyrant knows that his days are numbered and he’s probably already hiding in his bunker.

Once the green light is given by the UN, the Americans will unleash hell. The planning was done weeks ago. The US will attack at night, leaving the day sorties to the UK and France.

Once the allies destroy all of Gaddafi’s aging airforce, radar systems and anti-aircraft missile sights, the people of Libya will finish him off.

Saif al-Islam will have his wish granted. He will die in Libya.

We are so sorry that it had to end like this, but you see we are still thinking, meeting and talking (oh, how we love to talk). Then there are the photo opportunities with other important leaders, where we grin like the fat cats we are.

But don’t worry, we have condemned Ghaddafi and most importantly, frozen his assets.

That is important because we always try to hold on to assets. You never know, we might get to keep them, like Switzerland and Nazi gold.

To cap it all there also was the disaster in Japan, and we kind of forgot about you. It seems that Gaddafi unsportingly enough didn’t though, and made a big push against you, in which he sent a load of you to heaven.

Anyway, we have now agreed that Gaddafi is a naughty boy, and we might talk a bit more about not letting him fly his planes.

However China, (you may remember them from their pro-democracy stance in Tiananmen Square) and Russia (very much in favour of democracy – ask any Chechen), will probably veto any military action to provide you with air cover, so we will have to meet and talk some more.

But do keep up the good fight. We are all rooting for you (publicly at least).

Worried for the environment!

Even if Russia and China support it, and it does go through, it will take a few more days to implement. Al Jazeera today reported that Gaddafi forces plan to take Benghazi over the next two or three days. So it will be too late by then, the rebellion will have already been crushed.

Even if implemented in time, the No Fly Zone won’t be effective against tanks, helicopter gunships and artillery. This is the weaponry Gaddafi forces are using to defeat the rebels. Air strikes are only used “soften up” the opposition before the ground forces move in. Deprived of air strike capability will mean that they will use shelling by their artillery instead.

I know I am sounding negative, but when you consider the above facts you have to be so. I would be delighted to be proven wrong.
