Mark, once again it has to be repeated that while NATO can manage without bases in Malta, our contribution – even a token one – to the military actions to liberate Libya is necessary for our own self-respect.

We have only one civilian airport, we have a meaningless army , what do you expect us to do ? this war might never end, Gheddafi might remain in power. We are too small to get involved into wars, and it does not make any difference if Nato uses its bases in Sicily and Cyprus , so why should we get involved? We will not change the course of history anyway.
Are you sure so many nationalists share your views regarding this issue? I doubt.
