Do we need a referendum to recognise the Libyan TNC?
In which case may I suggest it be held concurrently with the divorce referendum in order to save on expenses, poor country that we are.

They’re joking, right? The Gulf Cooperation Council states want to accept Libya as “a fellow moderate Arab state”. Moderate state?

These states are ruled on medieval lines by dynastic families. One of them, like Saudi Arabia, sees itself as a Holy State ruled on Sharia law. Which basically means you can easily get your hand, if not your head, chopped off. Very moderate.

Sometimes I just cannot believe that liberals in Europe are taking sides and choosing the pixies against the fairies. And for the record, Saudi Arabia has two weeks ago invaded Bahrain. Of course, they don’t call it “invasion”. They call it “lending a helping hand to a friend in need”. Using tanks, and guns, and soldiers.

[Daphne – Some of us choose the pixies against the fairies, Albert, but at least we haven’t spent the whole of our adult lives choosing the trolls.]

Even one free Qaddafi is a danger to humanity, let alone a whole bunch of them. Allowing them all to leave would, no doubt, save lives in the short term, but it would leave a deadly virus lurking somewhere around: ready to resurface, who knows when, who knows where.
