Prof. Stiglitz is famous for his work on “efficiency wages.” After his abandonment of the concept of the “living wage” – which after all is an old Catholic concept – Joseph Muscat may have thought that “efficiency wages” would be a suitable substitute – mhux l-aqwa li “wages”!
