For full 42 years we did not give a damn about the Libyan people’s suffering.

We were only interested in the murderers’ miserly handouts while rejoicing at the occasional visits, business deals and awards for human rights.

It is just that most of us did FA about it.

Now some of us have the cheek to castigate those who are reviewing and analysing decades of shameful behaviour in which we have been accomplices.

Musumeci suddenly became aware of the fact that the PN’s attack on Labour’s closeness to the Gaddafi regime might lead to an indirect attack (from elsewhere, not the PN) on John Dalli’s “credibility”.

In typical Labour style, he starts dishing out “moderate” comments on the situation, obviously aimed at hitting hard on PM Gonzi and undermining anything which the PN says.

Musumeci knows perfectly well that he simply can’t come out in public defending John Dalli. He needs his constituents to keep on believing that he’s “close” to Gonzi and that he’s never going to move to Labour.

Don’t forget that come next year Musumeci will be facing a local election, the first one since his “coup” on Magistrate. Scerri Herrera.
