[Daphne – I have been with Jeffrey on occasions when he has drunk so much and become so loud, repetitive, angry and oblivious to the discomfort of those around him, that it left me disturbed. He himself told me that the reason he ended up voting against the St John’s Cathedral museum project was because he had far too much to drink at a party thrown by Magistrate Herrera and Robert Musumeci and then, when he was surrounded by the leader of the Opposition and other Laburisti (who made up most of the guest list), all egging him on to say how he would vote, he said in a act of (implicitly drunken) bravado that he would vote against and so had to stick to it. Those are his exact words and not mine. Other people who have been at table with him have had the exact same experience. He knocks it back to the point where he loses control of what he says. Only two weeks ago, I saw him walking out of a restaurant at night patently drunk and giggling like an idiot, shouting and laughing through the street all the way to his car. And perhaps he should know that the rumours doing the rounds right now – with which I completely disagree because, as you said, you can’t throw something out like that without knowing it for a fact – are that he is on cocaine, and that he was on cocaine when he appeared on Inkontri. I was actually quite cross with the people who said these things to me because I take them very seriously indeed, having been at the receiving end of all kinds of slanderous rumours myself. But I think that at this stage he should behaving in a more sober way and develop a little more gravitas.]

The criminal action you claimed to be filing against this man is presumably for defaming the character of your son. Why do you feel that you are entitled to the law’s protection but your enemy is not?

[Daphne – I cannot request police action on behalf of my son. My son is 25 years old, not a minor. Through a lawyer, we have both made requests for police action against Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando (yesterday morning) for that particular comment he allowed on his Facebook wall. Jeffrey is free to allow any number of his Laburisti ‘friends’ to slander and insult me all over his Facebook wall. I have an elephant’s hide and even if I didn’t, I’m hardly likely to care what a bunch of spiteful and envious guttersnipes think. But going after my sons, as a way to get at me, is another matter altogether. Anybody who does that has had it as far as I am concerned.

Jeffrey is free to request police action against me, and then we shall have a very public discussion in court about his drinking habits. If that’s what he wants, that’s what he gets. It’s about time the matter of his heavy drinking was given proper discussion anyway, and what better place to do it than in court.]

I do not understand why people like Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando and Jesmond Mugliett keep calling on the PN to disassociate itself from writings appearing on this blog, when the writer herself is not in any way affiliated with the party.

Imagine what happens when he gets it into his head that some one has slighted him in real life.
