What is absolutely ludicrous is the fact that it denigrates the memory of those who died, yet still appropriates the sacrifice.
It would sound different if it were ‘mietu ghalxejn’, that would reflect the I’m alright f….. thinking.

This piece embodies all that is negative in being Maltese, a longing to stay put, cocooned in windowless houses of character, alienated from the responsibility that comes with statehood.

It is, and this to be taken in a wider ideological context inclusive of ‘identity’, concerned with the concept of race, and in the implied scenario, anti semitic.

If the mlp claim that “mittna ghalxejn u mittna ghall-barrani” – what was the alternative? Either fighting for the Allies or fighting for the Axis – there was no other option. Perhaps now that they like Europe, they should have a chat in history with a few of their EUropean friends.

If a Eurpean political party claims that our involvement in the World War II was uselss and unnecessary, how should the AMericans and Australian citizens feel? Perhaps the mlp history revisionists should watch Ken Burns documentary on World War II before they write another rock opera.

I find it amazing that after 30 years since Mintoff quit the leadership, his legacy and half-truths still linger on. Wonder of wonders, the mlp electorate never ever question anything.
