How cruel. You surely know where to hit. Where it hurts most.

[Daphne - No, it's just a coincidence. I happen to be reading Stephen Green's Good Value, which mentions this in its opening chapter.]

unknowingly oblivious of the known......hmmm

As opposed to what? The knowing oblivion of things unknown? What language are you thinking in, Kev?

These pics show a man in an all too common Maltese condition, that of unconscious incompetence (ma jafx li ma jafx).

As always you might be right, but tell me, with one of those, who would dream of wasting time in conversation?

From a certain age onwards, time is precious and every second counts.

Whether it's an expensive hobby or not, as in all things, depends on what one is after. I can assure there are some who can be very demanding.

Of course, what I write all depends on hearsay and I might be wrong, for once.

[Daphne - Silvio, this kind of reasoning is a good illustration of the theory that the libido takes over when the meaning of life is lost (or never was).]

A very young wife is quite an expensive hobby, but anyway if you can afford it, why not.

[Daphne - Wrong again, Silvio. Men pick very young wives for the same reason they pick wives from ethnic groups trained to be subservient to men: they're much cheaper, less demanding and ask no questions. The most expensive wives are from the same generation as the husband but who refuse to work. Or they are much younger and the husband feels he has married out of his league, so bends over backwards to splash money he can't afford, to keep her.]

I am sure it is the dream of all elder man to be able to afford one of those Asian beauties. Of course this hobby might play some funny tricks with one heart, but from what I've been told it's worth the risk.

[Daphne - Only for your generation, Silvio. Younger men demand conversation. Lots of young men Maltese are even now complaining about Maltese women their age, who have been trained by their mothers to be pleasant and flirtatious but who, like their mothers, totally lack conversation and general knowledge. Your use of the word 'afford' is telling: paying for sex and servitude. In fact they're pretty cheap; the really desperate ones will service you for board and lodging, but you'll need a friend in the immigration authorities.]

After all you might some day be run over by a truck, but I've been assured there is no comparison.

So be bold and live your dream and to hell with the risks.

I come from Rahal Gdid as well, nothing wrong with that.

It was only during Mintoff's reign that the south was given such a bad name (because of certain individuals).

And, by the way, Silvio Parnis was a MUSEUM member, I am told. I am also told that he left the Society because he wanted to be a Labour candidate.

And what's wrong with those photos? He can write. He can read. He can solemnly think and reflect.

He avidly reads the noose of da day. Not much different from Daphne, in this respect.

Same superficial world, same brief; both unknowingly oblivious of the known, believing they know all they need to know.

But cry not. For what would become of Silvio without Daphne? And what is a Daphne without a Silvio? At every social level there's a dichotomy of hopeless vs hopeless.
