The man may may have represented the Commission but was appointed by The Maltese Government – either by the PM or the Foreign Minister in this case.

Who was he responsible to? The PM or the Foreign Minister – certainly not the Parliament as he had no seat.

Another thing – in most democracies the buck stops with either the PM (the top rung) or the Foreign Minister.

It seems that in this case the Labour Party has dropped the bar on the level of responsibility.

Could this be their strategy for when (if) they hold the reigns of power – protect themselves and blame the bureaucrats and or advisers?

On the matter of citizenship – I actually hold two passports – so in the event of any major catastrophy I am in the position to choose as I hold both.

It seems that the Times of Malta rejected my post to Charlie Azzopardi at about 18:30 on the 25th of June.

I won’t reconstruct my arguments one day later, except for two observations:

(1) Dr. Azzopardi seems to construct his arguments on the basis of the conclusions he wishes to reach, rather than proceding from more objective facts and broader contexts.

Investment in human resources is required to address the sources of poverty and the societal requirements for wealth creation, with emphasis on education and jobs.

(2) With the recent antics of the PL (aided by those censured by the PN because of their votes for the opposition), the loss of Richard Cachia Caruana as EU Ambassador potentially could cost Malta hundreds of billions of euros over the period 2013-2020.

For this reason, because of the PL’s actions, long-term poverty may be increased in Malta despite the PL’s contrary rhetoric regarding poverty abatement.

PN policies since 1987 have been the political engine to lead Malta away from or out of poverty. There is no rational basis to project a societal renaissance from a PL government.

“Impeccable analysis”, ciccio? Daphne cannot even differentiate between QE and LTRO, let alone analyse the why and the how.
