Also, I cannot understand why this would be news at all, seeing that Dr. Falzon never made a secret of his hobbies, i.e. hunting and fireworks. Those who elected him, in both districts (funnily enough one with a staunch Labour core, and another with a staunch Nationalist core) knew of this and did not judge him on it; they only judged him on his political performance and his consistently gentlemanly behaviour towards political allies and rivals alike.

If the Labour Party has a weak link, Dr. Falzon is definitely not one!

I have no issue with sustainable hunting by the rest of the hunting community, though the latter are usually quite happy shooting clay pigeons.

This would be a very well written and poignant comment, if bore any relevance to the situation in Malta. But it does not. Unless this man means Malta under Labour in 1983. The author is either delusional or in bad faith.

And it does not detract from the fact that this prospective minister, who may be called upon to set policy on hunting, has declared himself to be an avid hunter, but not only, a hunter of the worst kind, where the largest possible number of birds is taken. Assuming that is the total catch, there must be at least 50 birds each.

It could of course be a blessing in disguise. Perhaps he will do the decent thing and withdraw from any consultations, were he in such a position. But what am I saying, these mores only apply to others.

If Michael Falzon were a believer in doing the decent thing, he would have refused to be Franco Debono & Joseph Muscat’s tool.

Shooting over 200 ducks and other waterfowl is not hunting. It’s a massacre. I’ll choose Carm Mifsud Bonnici over this man any time.
