I consider to be any treatment of either as a special case to be offensive, and that includes the patronising ‘jahasra’ tone that accompanies most such public views. As far as I know, asexuals lack any sexual interest and do not have any sexual orientation. LGBT are classified (probably not the right word) as having a specific sexual orientation, but asexuals have none. it is the first time I read that asexuals have been included in an orientation category.

At least the pics of Russell have good lighting, nice angles and a handsome specimen… They are tasteful, unlike the bitter comments above which are packed with resentment, hate and attempts to belittle. The award elevates recipients and empowers gays, homophobia jabs and bullies… We will let those who have their priorities in check decide for themselves which is more socially productive and culturally beneficial.

Gays have been pushed around long enough, we have been spat at, beaten, told to just deal with it and denied basic rights. It is a positive thing to give a pat on the back to those who go out of their way to help our cause. That is ALL the soldier award does.
