Ah, but read Jason’s version in italics.

It does not mention the word ‘contract’ but instead it refers to a ‘permit’ and it follows that a copy of the permit could be obtained elsewhere, say, MEPA? Doesn’t a Labour MP sit on the MEPA Board?

MEPA issues a permit, period. The contract spelled out terms, compensation, etc. and that is what Sant was presumed to have had in his possession.

The crux of the matter, if indeed we believe that in fact Sant had THE original signed copy, is WHERE did that contract come from? File copies are not signed.

The deeper one digs, the more the finger points in one direction.

The more I see this unfolding the more the messy Muscat PL is emerging.

Muscat wants to become the youngest prime minister.

The only obstacle he had was Dr. Alfred Sant.

The only way to remove Dr. Sant from head of the party was by making Dr. Sant lose the election.

The Mistraleaks story is showing that Muscat used this to get Dr. Sant out of the way.

Now he has only to use his organisation to do the same to the PN.

Well, Mintoff did the same to Boffa, and history tends to repeat itself.

Weighing both claims, one by Jason some time back and the newer version that attributes the leaking of the contract to a PN official, wouldn’t the (M)LP have scored higher on the eve of an election had it come out with the second version then, meta il-ftira kienet taħraq u l-kanuni kien kollha jisparaw full blast?

This shows that the present claim has only been concocted for convenience.
