Finally I find myself in agreement with Baxxter. One wonders why Baxxter hasn’t yet realised that times have changed to such an extent that it makes little difference who leads this minuscule EU province.

It DOES make a difference at some localised level, but that’s not where the most deterministic political, monetary, even economic, decisions are made. In the scheme of things that matter, the tribal red-blue contest is no more a determinant of our future than a feud between two parochial band clubs.

The term charisma has two senses: 1) compelling attractiveness or charm that can inspire devotion in others, and 2) a divinely conferred power or talent.

On the contrary, his wit can sometimes be perceived as caustic, rather in the tradition of George Borg Olivier, and maybe a reminder of their Valletta roots.

All three had their achievements. Gonzi has had more of a CEO role, mirroring the changes in Western democracies over the last 20 years.

As a campaigner, he was brilliant last time round. This time round, we need to see the outcome before we judge.
