John Dalli’s reply to the question at 13:38 is the reply of a guilty man. Basically he’s saying he can’t say whether he wishes the Attorney General to prosecute until he knows what they know about him.

The one thing I’m not too convinced of and in no way am I accusing or siding with Dalli, but Olaf and EU Commission should publish both the Olaf report as well as the tobacco directive that was being pushed, all in the name of transparancy. There is much more than what meets the eye, lets not forget this is the tobacco industry which is very dirty.

Johnny doesn’t seem to be a very fast thinker.

Having been grilled twice by OLAF and Barroso asking for an ‘appointment’ should have raised a zillion red flags.

Being so congenial himself and a ‘colleague’ of Barroso, he should have told him, “Well Barro, I just happen to be a tad busy, but make it the next day or so at a more convenient time for me”.

That would have gained some more time for Dalli and, who knows, Barroso could have even changed his mind about letting him go.

In the meantime the last of the ‘snus’ at the Peppi’s Kiosk has just been snapped up by the local Swedes.

Is ‘snus’ legal in Malta and if not, is Mr Zammit under investigation?

The OLAF report deals with other issues but not illegal exportation and importation of a substance only authorized to be consumed in Sweden.

I like the bit where he admits that it is normal practice where “people meet people on a one to one basis” (6:15-6:30 appx.).

I am sure, and at a price too, by the looks of it. But although this may be acceptable in Malta, it is not acceptable in the EU. Il-garra gejja u sejra u fl-ahhar inkisret.
