Sureòy , woorking to combat the exyremely harmful effects of smoking, especially among young people, John Dalli should be proud of his work ! Alas his work went directly against the interest of BIG BUSINESS of the tobacco industry. And, in my opinion, this industry did its best to get rid of such an inconvenient commissioner ! So much so, that the directive , which had already been postponed twice, is now suspended !

I feel confident that finally the people who will be embarrassed will be those who are already condemning him, such as Daphne !

This has to be the best snapshot of where we stand as a country and the choices which lie ahead.

It’s high time we understood that the EU isn’t about an exclusive national interest at the expense of our reputation, but an opportunity to endorse maturity, discarding indolence.

If it means that those who won’t move forward must be left to their fate, I don’t see why we have to adapt and wait.

Dalli’s contradicting himself, reducing everything to conjecture, everything then, must be done to underline that we are capable of a clear irrevocable reaction.

What is painfully clear is how he was incapable of distinguishing between legitimate business interests and informal familiarity, a typical local trait that inhibits rigorous perspective, blurring right and wrong.

It’s not something we can afford anymore, not as members of the EU. This at least, we must learn.

Looks like an amateur video to me. He seriously went this route to ‘clear his name’? A poster stuck on the wall? A white T-shirt with a suit jacket? Is this April 1st already?

Not to let the cat out of the bag…. does anyone remember the GM issue which Ex-Commissioner John Dalli went ahead and messed with after a short time in his seat?
