Lino Spiteri forgot that even though he knew it was not possible, he approved Alfred Sant’s promise to remove VAT in 1996 only to resign as soon as Labour gained power after the great CET mess.

I cannot understand why he is given so much credence, when his brilliant and impressive track record is that of a minister in the cabinets of Dom Mintoff and KMB, and then somebody who hitched his way into Sant’s cabinet by seeking election on a VAT-removal promise, only to resign when VAT was ‘removed’.

He can’t even write, for heaven’s sake, and he presumes to bestow his wisdom upon us.

“One’s personal life” means the personal life of the person doing the exploiting, not someone else’s. And “fellow travellers”? Jesus, I can’t believe this man is paid 200 Euros per drivel-filled column.

The really interesting comment made by Lino Spiteri in The Sunday Times is: “A new style may be in the offing – that of exploiting deficiencies in one’s personal life. That tactic has already been floated by PN fellow travellers.”
