It is common, universal practice for heads of state employ full-time speech writers.

It is, however, a completely different story when it comes to personal blogs.

For example, Dr. Gonzi’s Facebook page specifically lets viewers know that not all posts are written by Dr. Gonzi himself, but those that are, are suffixed with “-lg”.

Are you a psychologist? Cause if you are, it is you who have a problem because you gave an analysis free of charge of franco’s style of writing meaning that you have ample time to this and therefore not so many patients.

It is very simple. There are several blogs on the internet. if you do not like Franco’s English and grammar, do not read and leave comments in his blog posts.

The early ones were just literal translations from Maltese into (very bad) English. When someone brought this to his attention, he said it was because he wrote in a hurry.

I also wrote to him and asked him to have a proof-reader before he published his post, but obviously my comment never appeared. But it seems that he took my advice.

Dr. Muscat prepares his own speeches. And it is easy to see that because he rarely looks at his very brief notes !

[Daphne – No prime minister since Winston Churchill has written his own speeches. The notable exception is Silvio Berlusconi, which really wasn’t a great idea. If Joseph Muscat is forced to write his own, the reasons why are obvious. Just take a look at what happened when he last asked somebody to write something for him. Three years on and it hasn’t yet been delivered. No, I do not know who writes Dr Gonzi’s speeches. I am not omniscient, despite the Super One propaganda to the contrary.]

I don’t know how Dr Gonzi prepares his speeches, but have you never heard that all heads of state (and Head of the Commission, of the European Parliament, of the UN, etc) have full-time speech-writers?

Those speech writers are professional, in every sense of the word, politicians.

His speechwriter. In most ministries, that would be the communication coordinator. Speeches for party events may be written by various others, including, back in the day, Peter Serracino Inglott.
