It is ingrained in the Maltese culture: “you are my equal so you have no right to be successful. I went to school with you, you’re the same age as I am or more of less, and I am as capable as you are.

You have no right to have more than I own, cause I’m capable of owning as much as you have.

And nobody has the right to own as much as you have either. It’s either ME ME ME or I’ll destroy you no matter what”.

This is the well-known tantrum of the Maltese block head. I bet that nowhere in the world, will you find a country, so insecure as our own, so ME ME ME I’m special attitude, as ours.

And if you examine carefully, you will find, that their problem is, more or less, with people their own age or perhaps slightly a little older.

No one goes around throwing tantrums about the retired politicians who were successful / who may have not been. Nobody feels jealous about them. It’s their equals whom they’re so obsessed about.
